This program will feature the piano on a variety of improvised selections from the American Jazz, Popular and Songbook repertoire.

Neil Donato (piano) and Ken Pesick (bass) met in the UP during the summer of 2016 while playing with separate bands. Quick to discover a shared affinity for improvised music, they have since played together countless times across the state and in Metro Detroit where they live. Ideas for this particular piano-centric project stemmed from socially distanced jam sessions in a Royal Oak backyard during the summer of 2020.

Ken is a Sterling Heights native and has studied music at Oakland University, the University of Louisville and Wayne State University. Neil is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, having attended West Virginia University and the University of Michigan. They enjoy visiting the UP and playing in Curtis, most often with their families in tow.
